Please come and experience a peaceful meditation teaching and practice, with an extraordinary teacher, Lama Migmar Tseten in Burlington, Vermont.  Designed to encourage calm, focus and increasing energy, this practice includes medicine Buddha empowerment, understood to promote healing.  Meet new friends, enjoy the river and vegan cafe, and increase healing blessings with the help of a special spiritual teacher. (Portion of proceeds to benefit Lama Migmars charitable organizations in India).

Lama Migmar is one of the USA’s most senior Buddhist monks. Lama Migmar Tseten was born in Tibet in 1956. He has been serving Harvard-wide student, faculties, and staff as a Buddhist Chaplain since 1997.  He was educated in India after being forced to flee to Tibet in 1959 when there was a Communist China crackdown against  his occupation. In 1980, he received the Acharya degree from the Tibetan Institute at Varanasi, where he was recognized for academic achievement by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Lama Migmar has overseen the editing and publishing of over 50 rare volumes of Buddhist literature.  and founded the Sakya Institute for Buddhist Studies in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1990.  Lama Migmar has also served as the head of the Sakya Main Monastery at Puruwala, India, and Sakya Center at Rajpur, India, and directs the Sakya Retreat Center in Barre, Massachusetts.  He leads Buddhist retreats all over North America and Europe.

Lama Migmar said: “Meditation is not just for Buddhists — it can be helpful for many different people.” Adding, “Meditation has two effects — it calms destructive emotions like anger and by calming these emotions people can find peace and reduce stress…It can also help people to cultivate more mindfulness, like memory and compassion. All the positive emotions…Meditation is done to reduce negative emotions and cultivate and increase all the positive emotions…It is very good for emotional health and it can help to reduce stress and help people perform better in the studies or jobs…If people want to be more happy and at peace, this is something they should try.”
